The Graston Technique Leaves Patient Feeling Relief after Shoulder Pain from playing Pickleball and Tennis

Subacromial impingement syndrome (SAIS) is one of the most common causes of shoulder pain and functional restrictions. This condition is caused when the tendons of the rotator cuff, the head of the biceps brachii, and/or subacromial bursa are pinched or impinged during normal movement resulting in pain, reduced function and range of motion (ROM).

Most people typically think the shoulder as one joint, but it’s actually four joints that working together. These joints include the “ball and socket” glenohumeral joint (GHJ), the acromio-clavicular joint (ACJ), the sterno-clavicular joint (SCJ), and the scapulothoracic joint (STJ). To find out what the experts have to say about the graston technique click below!

What’s the best approach for managing SAIS? Two conservative options include manual therapies and specific shoulder exercises. One study found that patients who received both treatments concurrently achieved greater improvements in pain and function than those in an exercise-only group. Doctors of chiropractic often utilize a combination of manual therapy and specific exercises when treating patients with SAIS.

So, if you are experiencing shoulder pain and you type in pain management near me or chiropractor near me, you will find that Coast Chiropractic Centers with Dr. Timothy Harcourt, me, comes up.

You may wonder, “What is wrong with my shoulder and who in my area can help”?

Do I have a muscle strain in the shoulder muscles? If it is a strained muscle, why is it getting worse instead of better? Perhaps, you have been taking chemicals and the pain persists as well? Do I have tendonitis?  Is it a rotator cuff tear or rotator cup problem? Pickle ball, golf, and tennis are common sports to cause shoulder pain. Some near you try shoulder workouts with the shoulder muscles to no avail. Persistent or worsening pain intensity and/or frequency necessitates a visit to see a professional around you before it becomes a frozen shoulder.
